Review: De De Pyaar De |
The much hyped Ajay Devgn starrer De De Pyaar De released in Indian theatres on Friday. Directed by Akiv Ali of Pyaar ka Punchnama fame, the film is about an 50 year old Investment banker, Ajay Devgn, who discovers love in a 20 year something hottie Rakul Preet Singh. What starts as harmless flirting between two starkly different personalities, leads them to discover that they can be more than just a habit for each other. Ajay Devgn is in top of his class, and Rakul preet compliments Devgn`s suave charisma with confidence and glamour. Tabu excels in this one too, with her understated performance and measured expressions. She is not only the voice of reason in the film, but also grace and beauty personified. Even her comic timing is spot on. De De Pyaar De remains light and fluffy with awkward situations and conflicts in the second half. However, the narrative wobbles each time director Akiv Ali tries to strike a balance between modern thinking and age-old moralistic values. The songs are weak, but the background score is consistently strong to lift many of the scenes.
