Cross-cultural dialogue to foster COVID-19 recovery |
Thought leaders from India and the world launched a unique cross-cultural dialogue on the occasion of the 7th International Day of Yoga on 21st June, to foster holistic wellness and recovery from COVID-19. The curtain raiser event saw Former Ambassador & Permanent Representative of India to the UN, Asoke Mukerji, and Her Excellency Ambassador Simona-Mirela Miculescu, Permanent Delegate of Romania to UNESCO & Founder UNRocks, global Indian Diaspora leader Munish Gupta, and Bollywood star and philanthropist Vivek Anand Oberoi initiate a multi-stakeholder dialogue series of eminent personalities from different walks of life representing different cultures. They underlined the essence of a collaborative process for emerging from the pandemic.Ambassador Asoke Mukerji had led India`s proposal adopted by UN General Assembly to declare 21st June as the International Day of Yoga. Mukerji said multi-stakeholder engagement was important. Ambassador Simona-Mirela emphasised Creativity is the first step to problem-solving and we must, as a global community, embrace it. Indian actor and philanthropist Vivek Oberoi in a video message urged people to unite and also asked support for a charity for children with cancer. Munish Gupta said media has an important function as a watch-dog. But it also needs to amplify developmental journalism and bring to the fore the value of arts, entertainment, sports, fitness to recover holistically through the pandemic, just as this series aims to do. Sobhana Jaya-Madhavan moderated the series and is also Associate Vice-President of External Relations Simon Fraser University in Canada. She said cross-cultural dialogues are critical to heal and emerge positively from COVID-19. The series has dedicated the first 5 episodes to the Cancer Patients Aid Association`s Food Relief Fund, which seeks to provide food staples, beverages, and water to 3,000 cancer patients, especially kids orphaned during the pandemic. This non-ticketed series is promoted by Impresario Global, a brainchild of Anubhuti Sharma, who sees her company as a cause amplifier. Sharma said the series should result in positive impact and action. Four more hour-long esisodes will air on (People of Indian Origin) PIO TV and its affiliates globally. Audiences can expect expert perspectives on the two broad themes of `Artists as Healers` and `Leading with Head & Heart`. The series is spread over eight weeks, commencing on the International Yoga Day and culminating on the eve of India`s Independence Day.
