Action films work well with the Indian audience and the success of Marjaavaan is a good example of it. Siddharth Malhotra, who has tried hard to shed his chocolate boy image and turn into an action hero has been appreciated by the audience. Marjaavaan made around 7 crore on the first day of its release, while the first weekend yielded a sum of 17.39 crore. The film performed well on Monday too as it earned 4.15 crore. Marjaavaan saw a little slow down on Tuesday and Wednesday as it made around 3.61 crore and 2.5 crore respectively. The total collection of the film after 5 days was around 32.58 crores. Sidharth looked to redeem himself through Marjaavaan, after his last release Jabariya Jodi proved to be a dud. Now, the decent box office collection of the film has helped him do the same. Though Marjaavaan has got good box office numbers, the film failed to impress the critics. The film sees Riteish Deshmukh in a negative role while Tara Sutaria plays Sidharth`s love interest in the film. Marjaavaan is written and directed by Milap Zaveri, who has helmed action films like John Abraham`s Satyameva Jayate and comedies like Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 and Mastizaade.
