Biopic film on PM Narendra Modi clears court hurdle
The Delhi and the Bombay High Courts Monday dismissed two different Public Interest Litigations seeking stay on the release of Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s biopic. Delhi High Court, refused to entertain the Public Interest Litigation which had also sought a direction to the Election Commission of India to act against the alleged violation of the model code of conduct by the makers of the movie. The court refused to interfere with the matter and dismissed the plea saying the petitioner could approach the censor board or the Election Commission. The Bombay High Court also refused to interfere with the release of the biographical drama on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The court said that the Election Commission has already taken note of the issue and shall deal with it. The Election Commission has sent a notice to the makers of a biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, scheduled to be released on April 5, after it felt that the film violated the model code of conduct. Actor Vivek Oberoi will be seen playing the Prime Minister`s role in the film, directed by National Award winning Director Omung Kumar and is produced by Vivek`s father and actor Suresh Oberoi along with Anand Pandit and S Singh.
