Bollywood 2021 movie releases lined up after dull 2020
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic left most of the Indian service industry in a state of panic but as always, Bollywood is gearing up to stage a comeback. It has lined up a bunch of films for theatrical release in 2021. Akshay Kumar`s “Sooryavanshi” and Ranveer Singh`s “Sports Drama `83” have been scheduled for the first quarter. Akshay Kumar`s spy thriller “Bellbottom” is scheduled for an April release. Eid will see the release of Salman Khan`s “Radhe” and John Abraham`s “Satyameva Jayate 2” in May. Audiences will also see Tiger Shroff`s “Heropanti 2”, Ayushmann Khuranna`s “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui” and Ajay Devgn`s “Maidaan” among others that have committed to a big screen showcasing this year. With budgets ranging between $6.8mn and $13.6 mn, a combination of mid-budget and big-scale films will compel audiences to step out and enjoy. The theatrical business was hit hard by the pandemic as it wiped out 67% of its business, leaving several titles stalled or taken directly to video streaming platforms. The release of these Hindi films will especially help business in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Mumbai that have so far performed below par for Hollywood offerings such as” Wonder Woman 1984”. Although 2020 was a volatile year for the film industry, trade experts are looking at a prosperous 2021.
