Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan dies |
Bollywood`s renowned `Masterji`, veteran choreographer Saroj Khan died of cardiac arrest on 3rd July morning. She was admitted to Mumbai`s Guru Nanak Hospital last month after she complained of trouble in breathing. Saroj Khan was in the hospital since 17th of June after she complained of breathing difficulties. She had tested negative for the COVID-19 infection. She was fondly called `Masterji` by stars whom she choreographed. Saroj Khan directed over 2,000 songs in her long and illustrious career. Some of her most famous collaborations were with actors Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi. Tributes poured in for the ace choreographer. Actor Akshay Kumar wrote, “Woke up to the sad news that legendary choreographer #SarojKhan ji is no more. She made dance look easy almost like anybody can dance, a huge loss for the industry. May her soul rest in peace.” Born in 1948, Saroj Khan started her career as a child artiste at the age of 3. She started working as a choreographer with Geeta Mera Naam (1974), but it was in the 80s and 90s that her career touched new heights. Mr India (1987), Nagina (1986), Chandni (1989), Tezaab (1988), and Thanedaar (1990) had some of the memorable songs choreographed by her. She won three National Awards for Best Choreography for her work in `Devdas`, `Jab We Met` and the 2007 Tamil film `Shringaram`.
