Bollywood filming moves out of Maharashtra |
The latest set of restrictions on filming in Bollywood hub of Mumbai in Maharashtra has led many producers to consider moving their schedules out the State. Bollywood suffered tremendously during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 and since. The industry has undergone a sea change, including many major films and series resorting to only launch on OTT platforms versus traditional theatres. More importantly, not just production companies but millions of artists and workers in Bollywood have suffered. The latest Maharashtra State restriction due to unprecedented COVID-19 wave has halted all filming in the state for 15 days. So far, the industry had barely crawled back to filming with restrictions, for example no scenes with crowds or background dancers and only 33 percent crew to be present on location. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan`s PATHAN, Salman Khan-led TIGER 3, and megastar Amitabh Bachchan`s GOODBYE had begun filming with these restrictions. Reports indicate that several producers are now turning to nearby Goa to continue their film schedules. Even though this is just a 15-day lockdown, people are preparing themselves for an extension, owing to the steep rise in COVID-19 cases in the State.
