Last friday saw two big films release at the Indian theatres. One was Mudassar Aziz`s Pati Patni Aur Woh. After a splendid start at the box office, the film witnessed a slowdown on Monday. But by then the film has done wonders for Kartik Aaryan. The film is the highest opening film in the actor`s career. Sequel to BR Chopra`s 1978 film of the same name, Pati Patni Aur Woh also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday in pivotal roles. Pati Patni Aur Woh opened with whopping Rs 9.10 crore and went on to make Rs 12.33 crore and Rs 14.51 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively. In its opening weekend, the film earned a sum of Rs 35.94 crore, which is the highest opening weekend collection for a Kartik Aaryan film. The film witnessed a slump in the weekdays with earning of Rs 5.70 crore and Rs 5.35 crore on Monday and Tuesday respectively taking the total collection closer to the 50 crore mark. The second release last week was Director, producer Ashutosh Gowariker`s Panipat. Ashutosh has made a name in the industry by bringing historical dramas to the big screen. Panipat performed well at the box office on the opening day. The film made good money on its first weekend too but it saw a huge slump on Monday. Panipat earned Rs 4.12 crore on Friday. It minted Rs 5.78 crore on Saturday and Rs 7.78 crore Sunday, bringing the total to Rs 17.78 crore. On Monday and Tuesday, however, it just collected Rs 2.59 crore and Rs 2.21 crore respectively.
