Akshay Kumar Starrer period war drama `Kesari` has taken a kick start at the box office raking up 56 crore rupees in its first weekend. The ticket counter was minting money on the first day as the film collected whooping 21.03 crore rupees. Film Pundits believe that the film will hit the 100 crore mark within a week. Kesari, which also stars Parineeti Chopra in the film, is an incredible story of 21 Sikh soldiers fighting valiantly against 10,000 Afghan troops in the year 1897. It revolves around Afghan soldiers` attempt to capture Saragarhi, a signalling post between Fort Gulistan and Fort Lockhart. The film depicts how just 21 soldiers of the 36th Sikh Regiment of the British Indian Army, led by Havildar Ishar Singh played by Akshay Kumar, put up a strong fight against the invaders. The film has got decent reviews from the audiences. Putting up a good fight Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu`s revenge thriller Badla is still thundering at the box office with an earning of Rs 72 crore in India till now just behind Marvel`s latest offering Captain Marvel which has earned 77 crore at the box office. This is Big B`s second collaboration with Taapsee after the critically acclaimed `Pink` and has stood strong against competition from blockbusters like URI which has garnered 245 crore till now followed by Total Dhamaal at 152 crore, Gully Boy at 139 crore and Luka Chuppi at 87.6 crore.
