The Central Board of Film Certification has okayed unrestricted public exhibition of PM Narendra Modi`s eponymous biopic, clearing the way for its April 11 release. The film was granted a `U` certificate on Tuesday and it will now be up to the producers to ensure that it is made available at theatres in time for its scheduled release. As per the sources the board has suggested few minor tweakings and no major cuts has been suggested in director Omang Kumar`s `PM Narendra Modi` before granting the certificate. There has been a huge protest against the timing of the release from the opposition parties as its elections time in the country and the film will influence the voters for the benefit of the Ruling BJP. However the producers argued that a filmmaker`s choice of the theme or plot on which to base his project was protected by his right to free speech. The Supreme Court had refused to block release of the biopic, while the Election Commission said the matter fell squarely within the CBFC`s purview. The poll watchdog on Tuesday wrote to the CBFC asking whether it had certified the film in which Vivek Oberoi, an unabashed Modi partisan, plays the lead role.
