EEB ALLAY OOO! movie review |
Away from political dramas and murder mysteries, celebrated Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has now brought to his audience a film about the people who do jobs which are not listed anywhere, something like shooing away monkeys. The film titled EEB ALLAY OOO! stars Shardul Bhardwaj in the lead role. He plays the protagonist of the film, Anjani, whose job is to shoo away monkeys from perhaps the most fortified area in India — Lutyens` Delhi. These monkeys aren`t democratically elected, but they`ve certainly been put on a pedestal. And it is the job of a group of young men, including Anjani, to shriek at them until they go away. Anjani is new to the Indian Capital. He lives across the river with his sister and her husband, in a slum way beyond NDMC lines. Like the millions of men and women who keep the Centre of Power running, he is an outsider from another state. "Eeb Allay Ooo!" is about his metamorphosis into a primate, willed along by those who refuse to perceive him as anything else. Helmed by debutant director Prateek Vats, the film is among the finest among the most keenly observed depictions of New Delhi which is perhaps one of the most cinematic cities in the world, but rarely ever depicted as such.
