Era of Remixes in Bollywood |
Bollywood fans have a versatile taste for music and it keeps changing from time to time. At one time, it was melodic Indian classical, then came the peppy party hits and later changed to what is called as the sufi music. But the major setback in all this, is that original songs are somewhere missing. They have been taken over by the ongoing trend of remixing hits of yesteryears or including non-film songs in the film. The trend, one may say started with Bachna Ae Haseeno in 2008 which used the RD Burman composition from Nasir Hussain`s Hum Kisise Kum Naheen of 1977. It showed the way to numerous musicians who started belting out remixed hits, which had greater impact and were commercially hit too. The list is long... songs like Aankh Marey in Simmba, Apni toh Jaise taise in Housefull, Disco Deewane in Student of the Year, Humma Song of Ok Jaanu, Mere Rashke Qamar from Baadshaho and Tamma Tamma Again from Badrinath Ki Dulhania are amongst the hit numbers. Bottomline is that the trend of remixes is just picking up and the new generation seems to be linking it. With directors like Karan Johar supporting the trend the era of remixes is nowhere near its end.
