Film review `Photograph` |
It`s a win win for the hindi cinema lovers this week, with two of the finest pieces of art hitting the silver screen, Alongside Photograph releasing is Tigmanshu Dhulia`s Milan Talkies, a well crafted and brilliantly acted small town romantic drama, inflicting every frame of the story. The film pacts a punch with passion to take the story to the next level, especially with the amount of thought and time given to make the script a brilliant one by the director. Milan Talkies is a delightful watch, much of its joy derived from packing in tropes and cliches from Hindi films and re-packaging them with renewed vigor. The story is based in Allahabad a small town in the state of uttar pradesh where though goons masquerade as moral police, castrating Romeos to protect the Juliets, and provincial filmmakers dream of making it big in Bollywood. Milan Talkies tells us it is okay to dream of creating your own Mughal-e-Azam in real and real life. Because you never know who is watching. It`s a fascinating study of how Hindi cinema impacts and influences smalltown lives, done with dollops of brusque humour and tongue-in-cheek drama. Over all Milan Talkies is a delightful watch which is striking the right chord with the audiences.
