`Gaana Music Festival` Rocks Shoreline Amphitheatre |
The Indian music festivals in the San Francisco Bay Area brought together some of the best singers/musicians from Bollywood and get them to perform live on one stage in front of thousands of thrilled and excited fans. The inaugural Gaana Music Festival, held May 19-20 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre, was a two-day musical bonanza presented by The Times of India Group. The festival, which brought together music fans – mostly Indian American – of all ages, served as a one-stop venue for experiencing performances by artists from different music genres, and with distinct styles. Starting with Usha Uthup, the ultimate diva of Indi-pop, on May 19, to the `King of Romance` Arijit Singh May 20, fans on both the days experienced the melodies of Armaan and Amaal Malik, the power punch singing of Mika Singh and Benny Dayal, the alluring sound of Kanika Kapoor, a little bit of Punjabi pop by Gippy Grewal, and Ayushmann Khurrana`s charismatic songs. Not only that, the lineup also featured renowned a capella band Penn Masala, the Kakkar sisters – Akriti, Prakriti and Sukriti – and IndianRaga. The concert on day one began on time with the vivacious, multi-talented Usha Uthup, who got the party started, performing high-energy songs like “Skyfall,” “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” “Dum Maaro Dum,” “Piya Tu Ab Toh Aaja” and “Darling Ankho Se Ankhen Chaar.
