India started their New Zealand tour on a winning note with a 8 wicket win in the first ODI in Napier on Wednesday. India is high on spirits after winning Test and One Day international series and drawing the T20 series. New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first but the kiwi openers were sent back quickly to the pavilion by Mohammed Shami who finished with 3 wickets. In the process, he also claimed his 100 wicket when he dismissed Martin Guptill becoming the fastest Indian to reach 100 wickets. This was his 56th match and he surpassed Irfan Pathan`s record who claimed his 100th wicket in his 59th match. Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav tormented the kiwi batsmen and kiwi captain Kane Williamson put on a fight with 64 but could not save the team from being bowled out for 157 in the 38th over. Openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan gave a solid start to India`s chase. Shikhar Dhawan anchored the chase with a steady 75 with support from Captain Virat Kohli who once again got out in the 40s. India chased down the target with 85 balls to spare.
