The box office last week felt a fresh breath of air as film Luka Chuppi released. The film is a fresh feisty take on a live-in relationship. The film released on 2100 screens across India and at the end of weekend, has garnered 4.2 million dollars at the box office. It is an excellent start for a small budget film considering that both Gully Boy and Total Dhamaal are still running at theatres. This is good for both Kartik Aryan and Kriti Sanon`s career as it is the best opener for both as solo leads. They play the protagonists Guddu and Rashmi, two TV journalists from a small town, get hitched, fall in love and decide to give `live-in` a chance before settling in permanently. Luka Chuppi breaks stereotypes regarding live-in relationships and still keeps you entertained. The film is an underlying dark satire and a statement on moral policing and communal biases. Director Laxman Utekar who has done cinematography in English Vinglish and Dear Zindagi, keeps the look and feel of a small town intact with frequent aerial shots. The film has opened well but weekdays will be the real test and only time will tell whether the film can keep the cine goers hooked or not.
