India`s 66th National Film Awards were announced last week after a delay of 3 months due to the Lok Sabha Elections in the country. The National Award for Best Feature Film went to Gujarati movie `Hellaro`, based on women in Kutch. Bollywood actors Vicky Kaushal and Ayushmann Khurrana shared the award for Best Actor for their performances in `Uri` and `Andhadhun` respectively, while Keerthy Suresh took home the National Award for Best Actress for the Telugu film `Mahanati`. `Uri` director Aditya Dhar won in the Best Director category. Surekha Sikri won the Best Supporting Actress award for `Badhaai Ho`. `Badhaai Ho` also won the Award for a Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Akshay Kumar`s `Padman` was awarded the Best Film on a Social Issue. Sriram Raghavan`s critically¬ acclaimed `Andhadhun` won the award for the Best Hindi movie. The film was also named winner in the Best Adapted Screenplay category. Film `Padmaavat` won in the Best Choreography, Best Music Director categories. While Jyothi D Tommaar and Kruti Mahesh Madya won the choreography award for `Ghoomar`, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was awarded for music direction.
