Review of Films COMMANDO 3, HOTEL MUMBAI & YEH SAALI AASHIQUI |
Friday saw the release of films of different styles. First was Vidhyut Jamwal`s Commando 3. The film stays true to the genre of action films. The kicks, punches, back-flips, smooth landing and hand-to-hand combat scenes look as clean and real as they can be. But otherwise the film has nothing else. The Vidyut Jamvwal starrer, with Adah Sharma and Angira Dhar as leading ladies and Gulshan Deviah as the bad guy, eventually defies all logic as director Aditya Datt goes overboard trying to pack as many emotions as possible in one film. Commando 3 is a cat-and-mouse game, giving a distinct impression that the terror organization is far more agile than the intelligence agencies. The second release of the week is Anthony Maras` Hotel Mumbai which is about the survivors of 26/11. Hotel Mumbai isn`t a glorification of our security forces, nor does it make any broad religious generalisations. It instead champions the people of Mumbai; those who weren`t trained to defend, but at a time of tremendous peril found heroism within themselves. Starring Hollywood star Dev Patel and versatile Anupam Kher, Hotel Mumbai tells a humanist tale devoid of politics. Hotel Mumbai is a frighteningly tense film — filled with expertly choreographed standoffs, but also moments of quiet reflection, sentimentality, and even humour.
