Review of film BELL BOTTOM |
Bollywood Khiladi Akshay Kumar`s latest flick BELL BOTTOM is out in theatres. And, that by itself is an achievement, as it its the first big flick to be in cinemas after the devastating second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. A serious subject, the movie is a racy, pacy entertainer from start to finish. Akshay Kumar is a RAW agent, Code Name Bell Bottom. He wears the massively flared trousers also known as BELL BOTTOM, that were sported by fashionistas and plebs alike in the 70s and 80s. Akshay does the BELL BOTTOMs with cheerful comic book flair. And, that`s what makes the otherwise serious subject into a cool action flick. The story is a fictional one with action, based on a clutch of real-life hijackings of Indian Airlines planes in the 80s. Akshay as a good lead, as usual, is supported by a good cast. Action rolls all over the place - Delhi, London, Lahore, Islamabad, and Dubai. RAW chief played by Adil Hussain is seen briefing an emergency cabinet meeting headed by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi played by former Miss Universe Lara Dutta. Lara is good too! The only guy who can save the Indian hostages is their `star analyst` Bell Bottom played by Akshay. The hero then delivers handsomely, leading his band of braves into battle. Huma Qureshi also gets a part in the action. `BellBottom` is not complicated, all cool and easy, fun and games and tons of Bollywood style action. Of course, no hostages lost as the rescue operation was pulled off successfully. Overall, the film makes for a fun outing during these otherwise grim COVID-19 times. Please observe all protocol when going to the cinema to watch this flick!
