Review of film HUNGAMA 2 |
Renowned Bollywood filmmaker Priyadarshan marks his return with the second outing of `Hungama` with Shilpa Shetty and veterans Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tiku Talsania and Ashutosh Rana. HUNGAMA 2 is a confusing comic plot. The story takes after Priyadarshan`s Malayalam original `Minnaram` (1994). In HUNGAMA 2, Vaani, played by Pranitha Subhash, shows up with a child in a hilly town as two reputed families are going to turn their friendship into a relationship. The quest to prove if Aakash, played by Meezaan Jaffrey, is Vaani`s father leads to a series of funny incidents. While the veterans hold the forte, young actors —Meezaan Jaffrey and Pranitha Subhash — try hard to do their part. Age and time haven`t touched Bollywood`s eternal diva Shilpa Shetty. She still takes your heart away with her dance moves. Radhe aka Paresh Rawal as an old, jilted husband wins sympathy while one is left wondering about his mismatch with Shilpa. Ashutosh Rana plays the father stuck in a situation trying his best to protect his sons, while sticking to the right thing. Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav and Tiku Talsania in their own roles do tickle the funny bone. Music is by Anu Malik, but really only one song `Chura Ke Dil Mera` impresses. Overall, the film does feel stretched at 2 hours 36 minutes. For those who love Priyadarshan`s formula, Hungama 2 is just fine. The film is streaming on OTT platform Disney +Hotstar.
