Bollywood`s latest flick, HUM DO HAMARE DO, starring Kriti Sanon and Rajkummar Rao, premiered on Disney+ Hotstar on 29th October. Directed by Abhishek Jain, the film is about a love story between an entrepreneur Dhruv Shikhar and blogger Anya Mehra. A chance meeting of the two at the launch of his virtual reality App leads to them falling in love. However, her wish of getting married to someone with a `sweet family and a cute doggy` sends Dhruv on the quest to find the right parents. Dhruv decides to seek help from Purshottam Mishra, at whose dhaba (eating place) he worked as a child. Purshottam`s college love Dipti Kashyap is asked and she agrees to play Dhruv`s mother, and Purshottam nods to play his father. One learns that at one time Purshottam and Dipti were to elope, but Dipti had developed cold feet. Director Abhishek Jain tells an interesting story in `Hum Do Hamare Do`. The screenplay by Prashant Jha could have been more convincing. The flick gets a little monotonous and the narrative lags in the second half. Rajkummar Rao delivers yet another earnest performance and proves why he`s beyond the box office. Kriti Sanon is effective and does justice to her part as Anya. Paresh Rawal and Ratna Pathak Shah remain in fine form. The film`s soundtrack by Sachin-Jigar is hummable and supports the narrative. The film has some really nice and funny moments. The film drives a point that Indian families portray a happy and united image outside, but squabble and fight within. Overall, `Hum Do Hamare Do` is a decent watch.
