Review of film SADAK 2 |
Friday saw the premiere of Mahesh Bhatt directorial return to the mainstream cinema with SADAK 2. The film had garnered negative news due to allegations of nepotism, and its trailer was one of the most disliked videos on social media. And true to that, the film is also said to be very dated and old age drama. The original 1991 SADAK by Mahesh Bhatt himself, was a high-pitched romance between a lanky taxi driver and a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, and the storytelling of that time was new. Though there were a number of films at that time using similar storylines, the Sanjay Dutt-Pooja Bhatt starrer had a mix of pulpy plot and performance. But in today`s age, when SADAK 2 is released, the storyline is not good enough to carry the film. Sanjay Dutt, reprises his role as the strong hearted taxi-driver Ravi. Alia Bhatt too who portrays the heiress-on-the-run Aarya who needs desperately to hit the road, gives a solid performance. The reliable Makrand Deshpande, gets a chance to vamp it up madly as a `dhongi baba`. And even the bad man of Bollywood, Gulshan Grover too shows up briefly. Aditya Roy Kapur plays the faithful boy who wants to support his girl going against the ungodly and to fight against `andhvishwas (blind followers).
