Superstar Rajnikanth & Kamal Hassan ready to join hands |
Two megastars of Indian cinema, whose films have been nothing less than blockbusters may come together once again, but not in cinema but in the theatre of politics. On Tuesday, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan in separate interactions with the media, said that if the need arises, they may join hands. Makkal Needhi Maiam party president Kamal Haasan set the ball rolling stating that there is no need to create a new bond between Rajinikanth and myself. We have been friends for around 44 years. If the need arises, we will come together for the betterment of Tamil Nadu. An hour later, Rajini too said that If circumstances demand, I will join hands with Kamal Haasan.” Rajini and Kamal came under attack from AIADMK leaders after Rajini, on November 9, spoke of a “political vacuum” in Tamil Nadu. The next day, chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said Rajini was only an actor, not a politician. A day later, Palaniswami targeted Kamal, too, saying both the actors as politicians will meet the fate of Sivaji Ganesan. Kamal`s MNM, now 18 months old, had come third in 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in the general elections this year, polling as much as 10% votes in some urban centres. Rajinikanth is likely to launch his political party next year.
