Indian Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu gave away the 66th National Film Awards at a function in New Delhi on Monday. Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar was also present on the occasion. The best feature film award was given to Gujarati film Hellaro. Bollywood actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal were awarded for the best actor award for their roles in Andhadhun and Uri respectively. Actress Keerthy Suresh got the best actress award for her portrayal of yesteryear`s star Savitri in Telugu film Mahanati. Best Director award was given to Aditya Dhar for his debut film Uri: The Surgical Strike. Badhaai Ho, a film about a family dealing with a late pregnancy, was awarded the best popular film providing wholesome entertainment. Veteran actor Surekha Sikri bagged the best-supporting actress for her role of a cantankerous matriarch in the same movie. Akshay Kumar-starrer Padman has been named the best film on social issues. Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s Padmavaat got the award for best choreography for the song Ghoomar. Bhansali also received the best music director award. Uttarakhand has been awarded as the Most Film Friendly State.
