Indian actress Vidya Balan`s new avatar as a producer has brought her good news. Balan`s short film NATKHAT which she has co-produced is eligible for the prestigious Oscar nominations this year. The actress is elated at the news that NATKHAT is eligible for the Oscars this year. NATKHAT dealing with gender equality and misogyny, and starring Vidya, won the top prize at the third edition of the Best of India Short Film Festival (BISFF) 2020, making it eligible for an Oscar nomination. Vidya took to her Instagram account to share the news and wrote, “In a year that has been turbulent, it feels great to win the first award for our film that leads the way directly to Oscar`s qualification. This film is incredibly close to me since it gave me a chance to play the dual roles of actor and producer”. Directed by Shaan Vyas, the film has been showcased at the 2020 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne and the London Indian Film Festival. NATKHAT premiered on YouTube as part of the prestigious `We Are One: A Global Film Festival.`
