16% Indians have renal disease |
Incidence of Chronic Kidney Disease in India is increasing at an alarming rate. In most cases, damage to kidneys is diagnosed when the disease has already progressed to critical stages. At least 16% of the population suffers from CKD, said doctors on eve of World Kidney Day, and there is an urgent need to create more awareness about the symptoms and encourage those at higher risk, for example diabetes and hypertension patients, to undergo preventive check-ups regularly.
