Finally the nominations for the 2019 Lok-Sabha elections began on Monday, after the election commission issued a notification inviting nominations for the first phase of the polls, thereby officially starting process. The commission said nominations for the first phase could be done till March 25, and it would be scrutinised by March 26. Thereafter, those whose names have been cleared, would get two more days to withdraw their nominations. The notification for 97 seats in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections is issued on tuesday. These constituencies spread over 13 States and Union Territories will go to polls in this phase on the 18th of April. The last date for filing of nominations for this phase is 26th of March. The scrutiny will take place the next day, while March 29 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature. All the Political parties are vigorously working to grab their share of the seats across the 543 constituencies for the Parliament, the EC`s notification sets the formal tone for the first phase of Elections that will cover 91 Lok Sabha seats spread across 20 states and Union territories in the country. The tenure of the present BJP Government will end on June 3, 2019.
