2nd Phase of LS elections underway |
A colorful festive scenario could be seen as voters started trickling at various polling booths in Uttar Pradesh to cast their votes in eight constituencies of the state in the second phase of polling. A total of 14 million 76 thousand 635 (14,076,635) electors are on the final Electoral Roll of eight constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, voting for the 17th Lok Sabha. The constituencies in this phase are - Nagina, Amroha, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Hathras, Mathura, Agra and Fatehpur Sikri. Of these eight seats, Agra is the largest parliamentary constituency with 1,904,706 electors and Nagina is the smallest one with 1,574,994 electors. According to data sourced from Election Commission website, In previous General Election of 2014, there were a total of 13,403,734 electors in these eight Parliamentary Constituencies. which means an increase of 672,901 or (5.09 %) electors since last General Elections. The tightest ever security arrangements has been clamped for this phase of Lok Sabha elections and as many as 95 constituencies, spread over 11 States and one Union Territory, went to polls on Thursday.
