India has risen under PM Narendra Modi and created a paradigm shift! Against that backdrop, ASEAN India Regional Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Jan 6-7, 2018 in began in Singapore with a hardcore demonstration that India was of reckoning. Nearly a 1,000 ASEAN delegates included VIPs, academics, diaspora and business leaders and youth at the resplendent Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre, it is one of the most populated RPBD celebrations with a packed business agenda, alongside writing, poerty, singing and film festivals. The plenary session saw comments from India’s top Cabinet Minister who has delivered infrastructure development, Nitin Gadkari, Singapore’s (Diaspora) Trade Minister S Iswaran, Malaysian Diaspora strongman and Special envoy of Malaysian PM to South Asia, Tun S Sammy Vellu, and a Diaspora business leader and Singapore Ambassador at large and chairman of Institute of South Asian Studies, Gopinath Pillai. Later, Indian Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant explained how India has come to occupy the leadership role in the hearts, minds and pockets of ASEAN.
