Alliance for 2019 elections |
After the unforeseen results in the 5 states which went in to polls recently, the Political scene in India is changing really fast for the next General Elections just a few months away. After the Assembly elections in five states, some Opposition parties are set to initiate the preliminary seat-sharing talks in key states. Big states such as Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal may see electoral joint ventures between different Opposition combinations and talks on possible poll trucks have started at different levels. Sources say Congress president Rahul Gandhi is likely to discuss the issue with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) president Upendra Kushwaha and Jitan Ram Manjhi of the Hindustani Awam Morcha. Congress is in talks with its long-time partner in Maharashtra, the Nationalist Congress Party of Sharad Pawar. In UP, BSP, SP, and the Rashtriya Lok Dal are close to finalising an alliance without Congress. In a dramatic twist, LJP Leader Chirag Paswan has made it clear that the Ram temple is an agenda of the BJP and not the NDA and it is time for a course correction. He has openly appreciated Rahul Gandhi for recent poll performance. After this statement, BJP president, Amit Shah rushed to reconcile with the LJP party leadership.
