Australia defeat India in 1st ODI |
India slumped to a 34 run defeat in the first one day international at the Sydney Cricket Ground. India chasing a target of 289, India lost opener Shikhar Dhawan followed by captain Virat Kohli and Ambati Rayudu. The chase was stabilized by Rohit Sharma and former captain MS Dhoni up to an extent but their efforts went in vain as the other batsmen could not cope with the required run rate. In the process, Rohit Sharma scored his 22nd century and MS Dhoni crossed the 10,000 run milestone in the match. Earlier, Australia scored 288, specially with fifties from Usman Khwaja, Shaun Marsh and Peter Handscomb.
