BJP-Shiv Sena spat escalates |
The tussle between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiv Sena, the alliance partners in the state of Maharashtra is still on, with solution nowhere early to reach. The senior BJP leader and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has categorically denied on Tuesday that the Shiv Sena was ever assured the post of the CM for two and a half years as part of the power sharing formula. Two senior ministers and party leaders Sudhir Mungantiwar and Chandrakant Patil have come out in support of Fadnavis, maintaining that no promise was made and that the BJP chief Amit Shah and his Sena counterpart Uddhav Thackeray will finalise the contours of the "50:50” formula. After Fadnavis` statement, the Shiv Sena has reportedly cancelled its meeting with the BJP. Meanwhile, the newly elected MLAs of BJP will meet in Mumbai on Wednesday to elect the Legislative Party leader. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and BJP national vice president Avinash Rai Khanna have been appointed central observers for the meeting. Senior BJP leader and Revenue Minister of state Chandrakant Patil said that BJP chief Amit Shah and Sena President Uddhav Thackeray will finalise the modalities of the "50:50” formula.
