BJP ends alliance with PDP in J&K |
The BJP pulled out of the PDP alliance in Jammu and Kashmir. Minutes after it, chief minister Mufti Mehbooba submitted her resignation to Governor N.N. Vohra. In fact, PDP and BJP were an odd couple to begin with and the alliance collapsed under its own weight of wide differences. However, the worst came when the Ramzan ceasefire failed and an editor was killed in escalating violence in the state. Now, the state will fall under the Governor`s rule. It is said that the security forces will now get free hand to crack down on terrorists. After three years, the PDP faces a big crisis. It is said that the pull-out is timed to ensure polls along with Lok Sabha elections. J&K has provision for six months` Governor`s rule. The BJP considers that the Govrrnor rule will end in December 2018 quite close to Lok Sabha polls.
