1. Chinese mobile-maker Oppo, which had made a winning bid of about Rs 1,079 crore for the jersey rights in March 2017 for a period of five years, will be making way for Byju`s, as the new name on the Indian cricket team`s jerseys. Oppo has decided to exit the space and reallocate the rights to Byju`s because it now finds the value at which it acquired the rights in 2017 to be ``extremely high`` and ``unsustainable``. Byju`s, which is founded by Byju Ravindran is valued at around $ 5.5 billion. 2. Former South Africa cricketer Jonty Rhodes has applied for the position of India`s fielding coach and support staff for the Indian team. Though Rhodes hasn`t worked with any national team, he is eligible because he has coached Mumbai Indians . R Sridhar is the current fielding coach and the Indian support staff has been given a 45-day extension after their contracts came to an end during the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. 3. Noted British Indian novelist Salman Rushdie has yet again been nominated for the prestigious Bookers Prize for the year 2019. Salman is nominated for his forthcoming novel “Quichotte,” which is about a traveling salesman who drives across the United States.
