Chabahar port commences operations |
Amid strong bilateral relations between India, Afghanistan and Iran the much awaited Chabahar port commenced operations on sunday as Afghanistan starts to export to India via the newly developed route bypassing pakistan. Giving slip to Pakistan route, Afghanistan has begun exports to India through Iran`s Chabahar port. The move is all set to open overseas markets to trouble battered country, thus opening fresh Windows to scale up its economy. Officials say that with the opening of the Chabahar route, Afghanistan`s exports will increase to two billion dollars from the current one billion dollars in the next year. The Iranian port provides easy access to the sea of Afghanistan. India has helped develop this route to allow both countries to engage in trade bypassing Pakistan. At the inauguration of the new export route on Sunday in Zaranj city in western Nimroz province, President Ashraf Ghani said, Chabahar port is the result of healthy cooperation between India, Iran and Afghanistan. Indian ambassador, Vinay Kumar said Afghanistan`s exports to India have increased by 40 percent after the launch of air corridor between Kabul and New Delhi.
