China President Xi in India for summit with Modi |
Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Chennai on Friday afternoon on a two-day visit to India. He will hold the Second Informal Summit with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu on Saturday. The two leaders will first have a one to one conversation which will be followed by delegation-level talks. Prime Minister Modi himself arrived in Chennai this morning by a special aircraft, from where he reached Mamallapuram by helicopter. Much has been anticipated from the meetings of the two leaders of the world`s leading economies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to clearly tell the Chinese leader that Beijing should be sensitive to Indian concerns on the Kashmir issue. India had repeatedly respected Chinese concerns and had refrained from commenting on the situation in Hong Kong and Xinjiang, adding it was time for Beijing to reciprocate and return the favour. At Mahabalipuram, PM Modi will receive President Xi and will personally guide the visiting leader through the ancient monuments through the UNESCO world heritage town where a cultural event has also been organised for the guests from China. Multi-layered security has been put in place at Mahabalipuram.
