Congress revamps Haryana unit ahead of polls |
Gearing up for the forthcoming assembly elections in Haryana, and in the process has decided to revamp the party organization ahead of the polls. On Wednesday, the grand old party of Indian politics appointed former Union minister Kumari Selja as the new Pradesh Congress Committee chief while former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was made the CLP leader and the chairman of the election management committee in the state.The announcement was made by Congress general secretary in-charge of organisation, KC Venugopal and general secretary in¬charge of Haryana, Ghulam Nabi Azad at a press conference at the AICC headquarters. Selja replaced Ashok Tanwar as the Haryana PCC chief. Making the announcement, Azad expressed confidence that both Kumari Selja and Bhupinder Singh Hooda would steer Congress to victory in the coming assembly polls in Haryana. Kumari Selja is one of the experienced leaders of Congress and has also been a Union Minister at the centre during the rule of the UPA. Bhupinder Singh Hooda has been a former chief minister of Haryana who did a lot of work for the progress of the state during his tenure.
