Congress to contest 2019 Lok Sabha elections in UP alone |
A day after two major players of Indian state of Uttar Pradesh politics - Samajwadi party and Bahujan Samaj party, announced their 50-50 share electoral pact for the 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state for the coming general elections, the largest opposition party, Indian National Congress has made it clear that it will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh alone. All India Congress Committee General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad and Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee President Raj Babbar in Lucknow announced on sunday. SP and BSP tie up has left two seats for Congress leaders - which are Amethi and Raebareli from where Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are members of the Lok Sabha. Ghulam Nabi Azad refuted charges that the Congress did nothing for the poor, dalits, minorities and backward classes. He said, Congress united the country which was once divided into many parts.
