Cornered Mallya now pressing for settlement of bank dues |
After the Prime minister`s speech on the last day of the session of the 16th Lok Sabha the, where he made a reference to an unnamed person who `ran away` with Rs 9,000 crore, the Liquor Baron Vijay Mallya has responded in his own way on the micro blogging site twitter. Mallya left India on March 2nd, 2016 after defaulting on loan amounting to Rs 9,000 crore he had taken for his now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines. The Govt as been trying since ten to bring Mallya to india for justice. Last week in a major break through in the case UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid had also recently approved the liquor barons extradition order, clearing decks for his return to India. Reacting to these developments, the liquor baron claimed that he had made a settlement offer before the High Court of Karnataka, "requesting the lenders to accept the offer". "I respectfully ask why the Prime Minister is not instructing his Banks to take the money I have put on the table so he can at least claim credit for full recovery of public funds lent to Kingfisher," he said in a Tweet.
