Delhi world’s second busiest airport in March |
India`s capital city of New Delhi was ranked the world`s second-busiest for air travelers after USA`s Atlanta in March 2022, according to a global travel data provider. Dubai Airport made way for Delhi for the second slot. Airlines operating at the Delhi airport flew around 3.6 million seats, compared to 4.4 million used by airlines in Atlanta, USA. India`s aviation market recovering and the government reopening international flights last month helped Delhi airport climb. The rise in Delhi`s rank is primarily due to the recovery in India`s domestic travel market which has recovered significantly. Unlike Delhi, other large airports in the region like Dubai and Changi primarily depend on international traffic which is yet to recover and fully remove restrictions post two years of COVID.
