Diaspora media confident of changing India narrative |
A global gathering of influential Indian Diaspora media persons and entrepreneurs conveyed confidence that the narrative on India post-COVID-19 is changing in a positive manner. The second and last part of the global webinar on the role of Diaspora Journalists as a force for soft power projection is a follow-up of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) 2021, and just prior to the Republic Day. A dozen eminent media persons and entrepreneurs from the US, the UK, the Netherlands, Kenya, Mauritius, Reunion Island, Fiji, New Zealand, the UAE, and India participated in the two-part webinar. Prof. Ved Prakash Nanda, Padma Bhushan awardee, was the keynote speaker in the Western Segment of the webinar. An idea was mooted to create a global association of Indian media persons including those in mainstream media, ethnic media and leading Indian media persons was welcomed by all participants. A general view was that in the new order India was emerging as a friend and development partner of the countries that need technology, innovation and economic support to induce socio-economic impact development. Speakers illustrated that India`s culture and history, indigenous technology-led frugal innovations, knowledge power, and landmark reforms in recent years are now being cited as case studies and examples to follow. India`s inherent strength was being seen as the reason for being able to rise from the massive onslaught of COVID-19.
