Weeks after the Indian capital Delhi`s state govt. released the Draft electric vehicle policy, the action has already began. This well drafted policy is being hailed as one of the most groundbreaking moves by any state government for the implementation of electric vehicles. To achieve this the draft policy has provisions for huge incentives on the purchase of new electric two-wheelers. Like: Free registration, parking for electric vehicles; Road tax, registration fees and MCD one-time parking fee will be waived off; scrapping and de-registration incentive of up to Rs. 15,000 per vehicle. Policy also deeply focuses on developing the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure., with clauses like: All new buildings to have 20% EV Ready Electric Charging Stations Older buildings under RWA & Co-op Group Housing Societies will get 100% grants The city divided into 11 travel districts with access to charging infrastructure every 3 kms All new buildings to have 20% EV Ready Electric Charging Stations with conduits installed. Older buildings under RWA & Co-op Group Housing Societies will get 100% grants for the installation of these charging points, at a rate of up to Rs 30,000 per charging point for the first 10,000 Charging stations across Delhi.
