EC to file report on Modi`s Speech |
The Election Commission is understood to have taken notice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s remarks asking first-time voters to dedicate their vote to those who carried out the air strike in Balakot. According to sources, the EC has sought a report from poll officials in Maharashtra. The chief electoral officer of Maharashtra has been asked to submit a report at the earliest as per the sources. Attracting strong comments from the opposition parties former Union minister Kapil Sibal attacked Modi and said “Everybody knows why the PM is doing this. It is unfortunate that the EC is not taking any action,”. An advisory was issued by the EC in March asking political parties to not involve the armed forces in their political propaganda. "...parties are advised that their campaigners should desist, as part of their election campaigning, from indulging in any political propaganda involving activities of defence forces," the commission had said in its advisory issued on March 19. While seeking to reach out to first-time voters, Modi said, “When you earn your first salary, usually you don`t keep it for yourself. You want to dedicate it to your mother or sister.
