In a concerted bid to curb black money transactions during the elections in India, the Election Commission has seized unaccounted cash, illicit liquor, drugs, gold and freebies worth around 78 million dollars since the model code of conduct came into effect. In a statement, the commission said, it has seized over 21 million dollars cash from all over the country. It has also seized precious metals worth 23 million USD, drugs and narcotics worth 19 million dollars, liquor worth over 13 million dollars and freebies worth 2 million Dollars. Tamil Nadu is on top of the list with total seizures worth over 15.5 million dollars, followed by Uttar Pradesh with over 15 million dollars and Andhra Pradesh with over 15 million dollars.
