German Chancellor in India, to sign many bilateral pacts |
India Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will co-chair the 5th InterGovernmental Consultations (IGC) in New Delhi on Friday. The two leaders will also hold talks and discuss a host of bilateral issues. MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted "Enriching the strategic texture of our relationship. German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived in Delhi beginning her State visit to India during which she, along with PM @narendramodi will co-chair the 5th - Inter Governmental Consultations.This would be the 5th meeting between the leaders within a year." Entire gamut of bilateral issues including science, education, technology, people to people contact and cultural exchanges will also be discussed. Two countries are likely to sign around 20 agreements. German Chancellor arrived in New Delhi last night on a three-day visit to India. The German Chancellor is accompanied by several Ministers and State Secretaries of the Federal Government, as well as a high-powered business delegation. Minister of State in Prime Minister`s Office Jitendra Singh received her at the airport. She was accorded a ceremonial reception at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning. She paid tribute to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
