Govt. constructed 13 million houses in its tenure |
Asserting his government`s track record in the housing sector vis the previous ruling dispensation`s performance is far ahead, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that his government has already constructed 13 million houses in the last four and a half years, while the previous government made only 2.5 million houses in its tenure. Modi said, the quality of house and space per home has improved during the NDA government`s rule. He was addressing the Construction Technology India-2019 Expo-cum-Conference in New Delhi. India is among those nations where the demand for housing is growing at a rapid pace. To meet this demand and increase the use of modern technology, Modi declared that the year from April 2019 to March 2020 will be the construction technology year. He said, his government is ensuring that houses have water, power, gas connections and other such facilities. Speaking about the conference, the Prime Minister said, the members will either showcase innovative housing technologies or will learn from new innovations that are being shown which makes these two, very valuable. Even the GST on under construction buildings in the sector has been decreased to 5 percent from 12 percent.
