Govt. focuses on imparting quality education |
The Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the government expenditure on education has gone up from 3.8 percent of Gross Domestic Product in 2014 to 4.6 percent during the NDA rule. The MInister Said that the govt has ambitious plans to further increase the spend on quality education to bring it up to 6% of the GDP. In the last five years there has been a significant expansion in the educational infrastructure. Under the NDA regime in the last five year seven new IITs, seven new IIMs, two new National Institutes of Technology, 3 central universities and around 125 Kendriya Vidyalayas have been started. The Govt. is making continuous efforts to improve educational facilities, he said. Govt`s educational portal SWAYAM offers 2,000 courses online for `Anytime, anywhere Learning` for everyone for free". He was speaking at a Convocation Ceremony at D Y Patil University in Navi Mumbai recently.
