Guyana Celebrates World Hindi Day |
Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre Guyana celebrated World Hindi Day on 17th January 2021 in virtual mode. Indian High Commissioner to Guyana, Dr. KJ Srinivasa on the occasion said that the first step in staying connected with India is to learn the language of ancestors, Hindi. The High Commissioner also read a message by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this occasion. Indo-Guyanese make up the largest ethnic group in Guyana. The Hindi Day celebration has become an important annual activity for this diaspora. This celebration showcased all the aspects of Indian culture. The famous song BATOHIA also known as the VANDE MATARAM in Bhojpuri written by famous freedom fighter, Raghubir Narayan, was sung by local artists. The participants could not help being nostalgic after hearing the song.
