HAPPY CITY DECLARATION: AMARAVATI 2018
Visionary Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu welcomed global delegates and media 10-12 April 2018 in the first annual event on urban innovation focusing on the happiness of citizens. The original State in India bifurcated just 5 years ago, into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The latter got the historic Hyderabad as capital. Andhra is building one from scratch, named Amaravati. Spiritual leaders, master planners, NGOs, officials and media gathered along the banks of the historic Krishna River. Naidu lamented being owed US$ 8 billion by the federal government. Yet he continues undaunted to raise funds, mobilize 30,000 workers from his and adjoining states and at least half a dozen top Indian and global private infrastructure companies deliver the first phase of Amravati by February 2019. More than 5,000 residential apartments are being speedily constructed using `shear wall` technology for various categories of officials. 21st Century Amaravati will represent a paradigm shift, run by technology and innovation as also by good and smart beings. Media persons got an inside look at Andhra Secretariat`s unique Command, Control and Communication Center that runs a Smart City that will also be Happy!
