Heavy rains predicted for central, west India |
The IMD has warned of heavy rainfall of more than 200 mm in the next 3 to 4 days in central India and the west coast, which could lead to flash floods at several locations. A low-pressure area was formed under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood off the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal on the evening of 13th August. The IMD has predicted that the depression is likely to intensify and move west-north westwards across Odisha and Chhattisgarh states. Forecasters have also warned locals of water logging in low-lying areas. IMD also said that rainfall will lessen over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Gangetic West Bengal states since the depression is expected to move over Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat states.
